Ideas For A Romantic Honeymoon

By David Dunn

Honeymoons are more often than not seen as secondary to wedding planning, when, in terms of memories, they are of equal, if not greater, importance. Your honeymoon is a time which you'll never forget as long as you live, so think carefully about honeymoon locations and honeymoon ideas.

First determine what your goals are for the trip and what you can and can't live without. Where do you want to go? Do you want to relax or be active? What is most important to you? Cost, adventure, sightseeing, weather, etc.

Trips to exclusive resorts or islands remain the most popular choice, and for good reason. Such trips mean that you can enjoy quality time with each other whilst relaxing from the hectic timetable of the previous six months and taking in stunning surroundings.

Another option is to take a cruise; they offer an equally quiet, relaxing time whilst also making it possible to visit a host of different locations. Should you prefer a more active honeymoon, give consideration to a mountain resort or an adventure travel trip (such as backpacking or a safari).

Regarding honeymoon locations, consider the following: Argentina, Bali, Bermuda, Caribbean, Fiji, France, French Polynesia, Madagascar, Mauritius, New Zealand, Spain, Thailand.

Whichever kind of location and honeymoon you choose, look to book it at least 6 months in advance so that you'll get the best choice of rooms, and can start planning for your time away. Ask your hotel if they offer a 'romance' or 'honeymoon' package available; romantic extras such as the honeymoon suite, iced champagne and bouquets of flowers will make your time away more memorable still.

Research and book restaurant seats, tickets, tours, and various other activities that require advance reservations, especially should you be traveling in the summer months (bear in mind that different locations will have different peak seasons).

Your overall objective should be to make your honeymoon stand out from any other vacation. In addition to normal vacation items, try taking some fun extras with you, such as romantic music, candles, bubble bath, massage lotion and lingerie. Finally, be sure to take a video camera and pocket camera with you, so you can look back on your special time together forever. - 31363
